Successful first sea trials for the PB72

Exciting times for the offshore multihull design as the first sea trials of the PB72 / Extreme H2O 2.0 began early this year!

This 72 ft semi-foiling offshore catamaran, designed by Morrelli & Melvin and built by Persico Marine, was modelled and optimized in Gomboc since the early stages. It is inspiring to see the boat now performing on the water.

The catamaran features an advanced appendage configuration including one rudder, one daggerboard and one outboard-lifting righting moment (RM) foil per hull. During initial sea trials, the RM Foils and the advanced flight-control systems have demonstrated performance closely aligned with the polar predictions.

With a displacement of around 24 t, the boat offers a full headroom cabin interior while delivering exceptional stability and seakeeping.

Without Gomboc we would not have been able to make such a leap in performance.” – Ferdinand Van West, Naval Architect at Morrelli &Melvin
